Mothersfirst was set up in 2013 and is part of the Doula UK community, we offer pregnancy preparation, birth support, and postnatal care. We do specialise in mental health wellbeing, which can be anything from mild anxiety to postnatal depression and PTSD.

In our work, we found there were many women in need of postnatal care, who were struggling with their mental health, and often could not afford to pay for home help. As a team, we now offer "free hours" for mothers in need through our sister organisation, 'The Tormohun & Willows Family Hub'.

Tormohun & Willows Family Wellbeing Hub

The Tormohun & Willows family Hub, is run by lay support women, our objective is to prevent or aid recovery from birth-related mental health issues. The organisation does not give medical advice but follows NICE guidelines and works in a complementary fashion with medical services across South Devon. We offer impartial information for families to make their own informed decisions about pregnancy birth & the postnatal period.

Our laywomen have experienced and lived through blended family difficulties, diversities and mental health issues. As a group, we have seen family members through mental health breakdowns, children with varying disabilities and faced the struggle to receive the correct support and information.

Our aim is to care for and inform families of their rights, how to access services and receive the most appropriate support.
